April P2: Quack

Well, I was overly optimistic about the weather… I actually ended up getting my winter coat back out! I had several more days with pretty low energy which were really quite tough. But, once again I learned the same lesson that slow and careful is the way forward. I hope this time it sticks!
Whilst inside, I did a lot of decluttering and reorganised my room, which felt great! I finally sorted out my craft supplies and practised decoupaging, something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time. And of course, I’ve been playing my instruments! Easier said than done when I can only practise in short bursts, but I relearned some old favourite pieces on the violin. It feels amazing.

Lots of ducklings in the local park! It’s a very sweet sight! It genuinely made my day, and filled me with raw joy.

My latest culinary obsession. My mum discovered an Italian recipe called ‘farinata’. I looked it up and it’s described as a chickpea pancake. It was delicious and she’s made it a few more times since. It’s not a great picture, I was hungry!

I seem to be fascinated by ducks at the moment, but it’s amazing how much variation there is in their colouring and feathers! Also, look at these two chilling together in the shade. Couple goals?

By this point in the month, I was beginning to feel stronger again. I enjoyed this particular walk a lot, and I was less tired afterwards. Yet all I have to show for it is another picture of a duck. He’s pretty though! And you can see what I mean about how much variation there is in a common mallard.

My first coffee out in a long time. Luckily my mum also needed to buy compost so transport there was sorted. It was nice to be out, although a lot for the senses. Also, in my previous post I really did speak too soon about the weather. This was a day I was wearing my winter coat!

There aren’t as many pictures this time, I thought 3 duck photos was enough. But once again I have reached the end of a month with some good physical progress. It’s mentally quite hard to recover after a setback, spending weeks building back strength and wondering if, for example, the trip to Llandudno was worth it. But each time I do the required weeks of resting, I think I get stronger than the time before. I think I’m getting the hang of pacing and being careful with managing my energy. So once again I’ll finish by saying: I guess slow and steady wins the race! Bring on May!
